WHO WE ARE…
THE TOWNSHIP OF KAYAMANDI IN STELLENBOSCH, SOUTH AFRICA, JUNE 2011:
American missionary girl meets South African artist boy. They marry and have three babies, all while combining their desire to see the township of Kayamandi transformed through their shared passion for the arts, family, reconciliation and good coffee.
WHERE WE ARE…
We live and work in the township of Kayamandi, in Stellenbosch, South Africa. It was founded in the early 1950s, under the apartheid regime and was originally built to house male migrant labourers employed on the farms in the area.
WHAT WE DO…
MOTHERHOOD | WOMEN EMPOWERMENT DISCIPLESHIP | LIFE SKILLS
We are a sisterhood of women, from different walks of life, who have decided to allow our unique stories to make us better than the world we see around us. We are mothers helping mothers where they can’t help themselves, until they can.
ART | DINNER THEATRE I ACADEMY | RECONCILIATION In the heart of
Kayamandi, the sounds, sights and tastes of South Africa are skilfully brought together to create an unforgettable experience that captures imaginations and, as the moon rises over the mountains outside, the drumbeat calls to every heart.
CHALK COFFEE SOCIETY
COFFEE SHOP | COMMUNITY UPLIFTMENT BRIDGE-BUILDING
The conversation about a coffee shop in Kayamandi began five years ago, when two men from opposite ends of the South African cultural spectrum decided they should use their friend- ship, their love for coffee and unity to bridge the gap between the vastly different communities that coexist in South Africa.
